Some links to follow for those of you interested in the Island and its heritage...

Did you know that school-aged youth can collect these lovely, free post-cards (there are 30!) from various sites around the Island? For more details, click the sample post-card and it will take you to "Historic Properties Online: Heritage Trading Cards" which is found on the historic places Prince Edward Island site.

PEI Heritage Postcards

Search the Island's historic places via the search boxes below. If the building is registered, you can simply put in the name or you can search by town, city, province, etc.

Island Blogs

As I come across blogs that inspire me regarding Island history and architecture, I will post them here:

(Top of Page)

Lucy Maud Montgomery

  • L.M. Montgomery Institute (Note: One of the things of interest is a tour of LM Montgomery's Island places - they detail a few lesser known places in this article Following in Anne's Footsteps)

  • Newsletters from The Shining Scroll

  • At Avonlea Village you'll find a gallery of Lucy Maud's photography and enjoy exploring some authentic heritage buildings hauled to that site that have actual ties to her life. They also have theatrical skits from the story of Anne of Green Gables for you to enjoy all day long! Get there early so you can see Matthew meet Anne at the train station :)

Island Magazines

  • The Island Magazine is now digitized and online.
  • David Weale's magazine RED - The Island Storybook is available for sale at various local Island shops and online. RED - The Island Storybook(FYI: You will find my story and illustration about my great-grandfather being lost at sea in this issue. David asked me to read it at the issue's launch. I'd never read in public before! All I could think of was that if I ever had the pleasure of being in his magazine again, I'd be sure to write a piece that is very, very short...just in case...
I also wrote an accompanying blog to go with it - As Fate Would Have It
